Tetracyclin Hydrochloride is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is used in biotechnology to select for and screen for cells that have been transformed with Tetracyclin resistant genes. It is also used to kill bacteria in cell culture media. Tetracyclin Hydrochloride is effective against a wide range of bacteria, including gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. It works by binding to the ribosomes of bacteria and preventing them from synthesizing proteins. This eventually leads to the death of the bacteria.
